About this site

I’m a 50-something database administrator from Missouri, and a few months from now I’ll be a bariatric surgery patient.

After years of losing weight and gaining it back, a high coronary calcium score and my wife’s increasing worry about my heart finally pushed me to stop negotiating with myself. I’m scheduled for a SADI-S procedure — a less common but highly effective form of bariatric surgery — and I’m documenting the whole thing here, in real time.

Tiny Bites is what I wish had existed when I started this process: honest, practical, occasionally funny coverage of bariatric surgery from a regular guy going through it. No corporate wellness speak, no sponsored positivity, no pretending it’s all straightforward.

You’ll find stage-by-stage guides, real product reviews of things I actually buy and try, recipes built around the realities of post-surgery eating, and eventually some tools that make the practical side easier to manage.

If you want the full story of how I got here, read my first post.
